I'm throwing a book launch party in New York on October 30 to mark the occasion, complete with "period" costumes (optional). Friends, ex-colleagues, family, my publisher, and some fellow BIO (Biographers International Organization) members will be there. Special guests include about 10 living descendants of Kate Chase and her famous father, Salmon P. Chase.
On the weekend of October 24 I will be speaking at the annual Francis Marion/Swamp Fox Symposium on "Marion and People of Color" as a prelude to my upcoming "American Guerrilla: How Francis Marion, the Swamp Fox, Saved the Revolution," to be published in fall 2016 by Da Capo Press.
I will be speaking as part of "Jean Arthur" weekend in Plattsburgh New York, her birthplace, over the weekend of April 30. They are unveiling a plaque in the downtown and giving showings of "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington."
A story on it can be found here: http://plattsburgharts.org/?p=13087
On May 3, I will be speaking on "American Queen" to the Landmarks Society of Utica, New York (home of Roscoe Conkling, a leading figure in the book).

On October 2, I will be speaking on "American Queen" at the Firelands campus of Bowling Green State University in Huron, Ohio.
